Mamtha Mohan Biography
Mamta Mohandas is a young and extremely talented Indian actress who predominantly appears in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu films. Besides being an actress, Mamta Mohandas is trained in Carnatic and Hindustani music and is an acclaimed playback singer. Mamta Mohandas was born on 14th November, 1985 in Bahrain. She was raised in Bahrain where she attended the Indian Scholl till the year 2002. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. Mamta began her career as a model and appeared in print adverts for brands like IBM and Kalyan Kendra. She also walked the ramp for Mysore Maharajah and Raymond.
Mamta Mohandas made her acting debut in the Malayalam film industry when she appeared alongside Saiju Kurup in Hariharan’s ‘Mayookham’. The film failed to do well at the box office but Mamta was appreciated for her pleasant performance. Mamta Mohandas was subsequently seen alongside Mammootty, Adithya, Jayasurya and Bhavana in VM Vinu’s Malayalam film ‘Bus conductor’. Mamta Mohandas received positive reviews for her portrayal in Malayalam films like ‘Adbhutham’ and ‘Lanka’ opposite Suresh Gopi and ‘Madhuchandralekha ‘alongside Jayaram and Urvashi.

Mamta also appeared in a cameo role in P Vasu’s ‘Kuselan’ starring popular actors like Rajnikanth, Prabhu Ganesan and Nayantara. Mamta Mohandas played the female lead alongside Madhavan and Abbas in 2009 Tamil mega hit ‘Guru En Aalu’. Directed by Selva, ‘Guru En Aalu’ is the remake of Bollywood superhit ‘Yes Boss’ starring Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Aditya Pancholi.
Mamta Mohandas has also starred in a few Telugu films alongside well known actors like Jr. NTR, Nagarjuna, Mohan Babu, Jagapathi Babu and Venkatesh, among others. Her first Telugu film ‘Yamadonga’, a social fantasy released in 2007 was a box office success. Consequently she appeared in Telugu films like ‘Krishnarjuna’ opposite Vishnu Vardhan Babu, ‘Victory’ opposite Nitin Kumar Reddy, ‘Chintakayala Ravi’ opposite Venkatesh and ‘King’ alongside Nagarjuna, Trisha Krishnan and Arjan Bajwa . Mamta gave a riveting performance in J. D. Chakravarthy’s Telugu thriller film ‘Homam’. The film was said to be heavily inspired from the Oscar winning Hollywood film ‘The Departed’ starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson. Mamta Mohandas was recently seen opposite Nagarjuna in Kiran Kumar’s Telugu film ‘Kedi’. The film won huge acclaim for its music, art direction and cinematography.
Mamta Mohandas is also a well known award winning playback singer. She first sang for the Telugu film ‘Rakhee’ and won Filmfare Best Telugu Female Playback Singer Award in the year 2007. She later worked with popular music directors like Sri Devi Prasad, MM Keeravani, RP Patnaik, Nithin Raikwar and Thaman.
